Each year we organize industry meetings and workshops for documentary filmmakers and producers from the region. We invite experienced documentary professionals from Europe to attend project development, pitching and presentation sessions in Tbilisi. Some of the invited experts who have attended our industry sessions include: Katja Wildermuth (commissioning editor, MDR TV), Paul Pauwels (director EDN), Simone Baumann (producer, Germany), Luciano Barisone (festival director, Visions du reel), Emilie Kleinmann (Arte, France), Uldis Cekulis (producer, Latvia), Isabel Arrate Fernandez (IDFA Bertha Fund), Tue Steen Mueller (documentary expert, Denmark), Peter Symes (producer, UK), Hans Robert Eisenhauer (producer, Germany), Irena Taskovski (sales agent, UK), Sasha Klein (producer, Israel), etc.
In 2012 we organized a workshop Docstories Black Sea in partnership with IDFA and theIDFAcademy. The workshop was funded by the Media Mundus Programme (EU), by the Open Society Georgia Foundation and by the Georgian National Film Centre. More than 25 participants from the Black Sea region countries (Ukraine, Georgia, Romania, Moldova, Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russia) were trained in three sessions in Tbilisi (Georgia), Sibiu (Romania) and Amsterdam (The Netherlands) during IDFA.
Docstories Georgia is a workshop dedicated to Georgian documentary directors and producers. The session, held in parallel with the festival, supported filmmakers to develop their projects and create a package according to international documentary market standards.
The workshops included: series of master classes, group works, presentation training, a Pitching forum and One on one meetings.
The invited tutors and documentary experts who worked with the selected teams came from different European countries and had different professional backgrounds: directors, producers, commissioning editors, sales agents and documentary consultants.
